At the fair

We spent the afternoon at the Dakota County Fair. Ella's first trip to a fair. It went well, although she wasn't too keen on the animals. She glanced at the cows & pigs from the comfort of her stroller.....

Didn't think much of the horses or the pigs (although I thought these 2 pigs were cute, laying there holding hoofs...dotted with flies....

Or the ducks or chickens (look at these weird rocker looking chickens!)....

And when we made it to the sheep and goats...well, she wasn't comfortable in the stroller anymore. The baa baas and meh mehs were a little much for Ms. Ella.

So in the comfort of my arms, together, we talked & waved (after getting comfortable, Ella decided it was best to wave frantically at the animals - hilarious!)

(Jay took this picture, and he says "well, at least the sheep looked at the camera!")

I guess we'll see what she thinks about lions and zebras tomorrow at the zoo!

14 Months

Ella turned 14 months yesterday 8.2.10. Seriously, where does the time go? I can't believe it. So, I thought I should update the blog since it's been a while....

Ella is 14 months. She's not walking yet, but she loves to cruise the furniture. Her latest favorite thing to do: When I am going to go to pick her up or grab her to change a diaper, she takes off crawling like she's in a NASCAR race, then stops abruptly, turns around to look at me, and starts laughing. She thinks she's very clever. I do too. It still makes me laugh.

Her hair is growing more now, although it's still that blondish red color. She's looking more like myself in younger pictures of me, even with the hair color. At some point my hair color changed, but unknown when. I have newborn baby pictures showing me looking quite "mexican" as Jay would say (very dark skin color & dark hair). Then pictures skip to sometime as a toddler where my boyish-cut hair is much lighter - similar in color to Ella's. And then I'm in elementary school with dark hair. It's a mystery. Here's Ella yesterday. Pigtails for the first time, thanks Grandma Jolyn for being beautician!

I got a message from Nike today that my message has been written in chalk along the Tour de France! If you look at the bottom of the picture, it shows you the coordinates. Sweeettttt........

Insanity PART TWO

Remember a blog post way back in April about my Insane life at the time? Well, I officially completed Insanity (the 60 day workout program straight from Hell). I accomplished my goal of completing it. It was hard. And sweaty. But I survived. I dropped inches (quite a few) and pounds (could be more) but I still long for my favorite jeans to fit just right. So....Insanity Part Two started on 7/10. 54 more days to go. The best quote from this workout program goes like this: I'm not trying to hurt you, I'm only trying to make you better. Sweet.

So, since I just patted myself on the back for finishing Insanity, I thought I'd break down and show you some "before" pictures and some "after" pictures (Jay is participating in Insanity Part Two, and I didn't want to leave Ella out, so I'll share all of our "before" pictures....

HAHA. Gotcha!

Celebrity this Baby!

So a few weeks ago now, I was reading a magazine on the bus to work and came across a little blurb about how babies are like celebrities. I thought it was cute, so I'm finally sharing (I know I've been sort of lacking in blog updates). Here goes:
  • People are always taking pictures of them
  • Girls loves to talk about how cute they are
  • Hitting the bottle is just how they roll
  • They have a personal driver, a chef AND a stylist...and
  • Naked pictures!
HA!
So, I thought I'd catch a few pics of Ms. Ella celeb-style.

So....who's your baby celebrity?! Don't you love those glasses!

Tour de France - Write a message!

Hey, so Lance Armstrong is racing his final Tour de France (I think maybe he's in 4th place right now?) Anyway, LiveSTRONG is working with Nike via a robot that is writing messages along the roads in France that the bikers are taking. People can submit a message via the link below, and if that message is written (in chalk, by the robot, in FRANCE!) they take a satellite pic of the message & email it to you. Cool right? I've already submitted a message for Jay in honor of the 5 year cancer-free mark. I'm working on a few more. It only takes a few seconds to submit. Try it!
