SIX!

Today is the day.  Ella officially turned SIX!  AND...it is the last day of kindergarten!!!

I put streamers in her doorway last night while she was sleeping and left her a little note on her mirror!

Birthday balloons on her chair help make the last day of school/birthday breakfast a little bit festive

and of COURSE we had donuts!  Ella's favorite - chocolate with sprinkles!!

I mean, seriously, she is SIX and now she's headed to FIRST GRADE!

Let's compare, shall we?
FIRST DAY

LAST DAY

Ella, we love you to pieces!

They only had school until noon today so it was a condensed birthday celebration at school.  She did get her birthday crown and they sang her Happy Birthday!!  She received a book and a new pencil from her teacher, Mrs. Lewis.  Awesome!

Track and Field Day!

Track and field day was supposed to be on Friday the 29th, but it was postponed due to rain.  Due to the postponement, I wasn't able to attend.  Thankfully, Jay and Grandma Jolyn could make it to cheer on the kiddos!  The entire Meadowview school participated so it was a big event.  The kindergarteners participated in a 50 meter, 100 meter and 400 meter run.

Ella's 6th birthday party (the friend party)

Birthday weekend festivities continued on Sunday!  We had another celebration with Ella's friend party!

The highlight of the party was a visit from Cinderella!!

Favor bags!  Sophia the First sticker sheet, Sophia lip gloss and...

...an Amulet!!  If you're not familiar with Sophia, she has an Amulet that allows her to talk to animals. I think every one of the girls asked me if it was a real Amulet.  Umm....yes?!  I wonder how many went home and tried to talk to their dogs?  :)

When the girls arrived, they were able to color a Sophia the First color sheet while we waited for everyone! Note to myself:  some girls color super fast and some are VERY meticulous.  So, I had a few girls get done right away and then we had to sit and wait for everyone else to finish so this didn't go as smoothly as I envisioned!

Before Cinderella arrived, we played Pass the Wand game (in musical chairs fashion)
and then headed outside to decorate a cookie!  This was a big hit, but it would have been nice to have some more adult hands to help me!!  Next time we host a kid's party at home I need to enlist more helpers!!

I snapped this traditional picture with her birthday balloons!  Can you believe she is SIX?!?  Oh, and to include something crafty this year, I sewed her top.  Yes I did!  Boom.

When Cinderella arrived, we headed out on the deck to play Musical Flowers.

Then we headed in for a story.  She read Sophia the First (the original story) which includes an appearance by Ms. Cinderella herself!!

All of the parents asked me what they thought of Cinderella.  I think they were all a bit shocked by the whole thing.  In hindsight I wonder if it might have been more fun to share with them that Cinderella was coming so they could prepare themselves?!?!  (I didn't tell any of the girls, not even Ella, that Cinderella was going to be in attendance!)  They just sort of sat in awe for a long time.  HA!

We had a little sing-a-long to "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes"

And Cinderella taught the girls "Happy Birthday" in sign language

She received a special gift all the way from the Castle courtesy of Cinderella!

Cinderella had to leave to head to the ball, so we opened gifts and then the girls enjoyed cupcakes, their decorated cookies, some princess popcorn and some pink and purple candies!  We played outside and then in the toy room until it was time to say goodbye.

It was a pretty magical day!

Dance Recital 2015

Another year of dance is over!  Whew!  It was quite a year this year with costume issues and last minute changes to the tap dance ending.  The theme this year was 5, 6, 7, 8!  All the songs were numbers or involved time.  Ella's tap dance was "9 to 5" and ballet dance was "Yesterday Once More"

First performance was Friday night which didn't start until 7 p.m. and made for a VERY late night for all of us.  I was the chaperone for this performance, which turned out to be a lot of fun.  The only downside was that I lost my voice!  (Not because of yelling!) I think it was a combination of the weird weather which went from SUPER humid to freezing in a matter of hours plus the crazy loudness of the locker room with all those little dancers!! I tried to keep them busy with color sheets, singing and playing tops.  :)

Waiting backstage before the ballet routine (it was almost 10 p.m. - they were so tired!!)

Jay and aunt Annie attended the Friday night show, so we snapped a quick picture before we headed some to get some sleep for the busy Saturday!

Saturday night....

Ella napped in the short trip to school for Saturday night's performance -
exhausted from the late night Friday night plus the family birthday party!

Can you spot our little office worker??  :)  Front left.

 Blurry...boo
But her facial expressions make this former dance teamer proud!!

By next year, I promise to get a better camera to capture these dances better!
The blurriness is driving me crazy!!

We were able to get in the Synergy photo booth this year!

Hoping for another great year of dance next year!
