Just for Kix Holiday Show {December 2016}

5 days until Christmas!  WOW!  I hope you are all more ahead of the game than I am.  I have lots of gifts to buy and wrap yet.  I am, however, in good shape on the holiday baking!  I've got a bunch baked and frozen and ready for the cookie platters.  Only a few more days!  We are all ready for a little break at my house.

This past weekend was Ella's first holiday Just for Kix performance.  In years past, the studio only did a big recital at the end of the school year, so having a performance so early in the year was new for us!  And go figure - we arrived at the show and realized we forgot her dance shoes at home!  AHHH!!  Good thing we live close.  :)

Her group did a great job and we were all impressed by how well the routine came together in just a short time. She is growing up so much!!  And for Just for Kix, the girls are wearing clip earrings which makes her seem even more grown up!

Looking forward to the Christmas weekend!

Christmas Season is here!

A few weekends ago, Ella and I went to see Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who were visiting in Lakeville.  It was busy with lots of families (we had to take a number to see Santa!), but we had a good time.

Waiting to visit with Mrs. Claus

Making a yarn bracelet with Mrs. Claus - very sweet chats between Ella and Mrs. Claus about baking cookies!!

We can hardly stand our excitement to FINALLY meet with Santa to explain all about the gifts we really want this year!

 Selfie on the Horse-Drawn Carriage ride {no snow - kind of weird}

And of course, she had to get her face painted!  This is supposed to be Olaf...yeah...

Ella is attending a new Sunday School program this year.  Her Christmas program was this past weekend

Can you see her singing?
I didn't have a good spot to take pictures, so that was a bummer!

Merry Christmas season!
We are having lots of fun getting ready for the celebrations starting next weekend.  I've baked a few batches of cookies, but there are more to do! Jay and Ella are bugging me to eat them.
Not many days left until the cookie platters will be ready!
Lots of gifts to wrap (AND BUY) and we are bracing for a pretty major snow event this weekend.

Oh, and Ella's first Just for Kix dance show is this weekend!
Can't wait to see all the different performances!

Halloween 2016

Ella was a mermaid for Halloween this year!

And she spent a portion of Halloween night sorting and counting her candy!  HA!
She does this every year and this year she made Jay write it all down.  :)

Disney World 2016

Well, let me start off by saying that I started a draft post for our Disney World trip right after we returned, and now...well, now it's 10 days until Christmas.  Shoot.  I need to add "update blog more often" to the 2017 list of resolutions!!  Let's get back on track shall we?

Disney World.  We did it.  We went over MEA break and it was a fast and furious trip, which will not go down as wonderful of an experience as we were anticipating!  Ms. Ella (we think) was either experiencing some ear situation from the plane trip or anxiety or just overall extreme excitement that led to some nausea that lasted the entire trip.  We had to force her to leave the hotel to go to the parks!  This is NOT what we were anticipating AT ALL!  But, she was a trooper.  She did okay and I think enjoyed some things, but overall, the nausea really put a damper on things.

October 18 we headed for the airport early morning for our approximately 9 a.m. flight to Orlando!!

 Waiting for our flight!

This was Ella's first plane ride, and my first plane ride in a long time.  It went well minus some ear pressure for Ella.  Lots of families headed to Disney on our flight!!  We took the Disney Magical Express bus to our resort.

Waiting to depart the airport!

Trying to take a selfie with this kiddo can be challenging!!

 Picking my nose?!?!

First stop - Epcot!

Meeting Snow White on Day 1 - AMAZING!

Day Two - Magic Kingdom!

The Cinderella Castle is the coolest building ever.  I couldn't get enough of it.  Took tons of pictures of it.  Favorite thing by far for me!

Breakfast with Cinderella and tons of Disney princesses was beyond cool.  I was basically seven years old again with Ella!

A trip back later in the day and we were able to meet the MAN himself.  Mickey!  This was the coolest character visit we had.  Mickey did a magic trick with Ella and it was adorable.

Mickey Pretzel - it was on my list of MUST EAT items!

Ella and Jay were in a play with Princess Belle!

Ella took our photo before the Enchanted Tales with Belle....

Day Three - Hollywood Studios!

We had a character breakfast with the Disney Junior characters, but we switched it to lunch because Ella was not feeling well for breakfast.  I was glad we were able to make it!

We also used a FastPass to ride the Toy Story ride.  It was so fun!  It was too long of a wait without FastPass or we would have gone on it again!

Dinner at Chef Mickey's

We met Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto during dinner!

Day Four - Back to Magic Kingdom (morning) and Epcot (FROZEN RIDE)

 Good morning lovely Cinderella Castle!

Heading to the Winnie the Pooh ride!

On the way to visit with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck...showing some sass

When in Disney, some EARS are a must!

I couldn't get enough of the Mickey-shaped treats!  This cookie was HUGE!

See Ella's cute little Mickey cake pop?!?  So cute!

The big event of the day - Meeting Elsa, Anna and going on the Frozen Ride!!

Waiting in line (Ella started doing this with her skirt after observing all of the princesses doing similar "poses")
Inside the Arendale castle of Elsa and Anna

The anticipation of meeting Elsa and Anna for the first time....

SELFIE just before we get on the boat for the Frozen Ride!

Hilarious!!  While we were on the ride!

Afterwards, we did a little shopping in the Norwegian shop

(obviously we had to put on the VIKING helmet!)

And we ate the schoolbread.  I had read about this online and people raved about it.  I didn't realize how amazing it would be.  IT WAS AMAZING! {and I forgot to take a picture}

We had a great time considering Ella was not feeling the best.
It went from this....

to this...

What a trip!

p.s. each day at the resort, Ella received Mickey Mail from Mr. Mickey Mouse himself.  It was a fun little Disney gift each day and she enjoyed it!  Although it took a bit of planning and extra space in our bags, it was totally worth it to hear her talk about those little gifts!
